  • An expatriate longs for the English spring

Form

  • 2 verses, 8 and 12 lines
  • Has a Romantic intensity and diction
    • O, to be in England, etc
    • “recapture / The first fine careless rapture!”
  • First first rolls around, playing with iambic pentameter, tetrameter: always running around tetrameter, very coy
    • Shows much flexibility: a very nice example of how Victorian poetry isn’t necessarily neo-Classical in a literal sense
