Andrew's Wiki
Ex Posure

Content

  • Describes a night moving into morning at the front
    • Nothing happens except for death
    • The war itself seems very far away
  • War is bad not only in the crises, but also in the boredom, the slow death, the waiting, the sleeping

Style

  • Frequent use of ellipses = murky atmosphere
    • Makes the reader feel sleepy too
  • Last line of each stanza repeats
    • “But nothing happens” is the refrain
    • Interrupted a few times times: “What are we doing here?” “Is it that we are dying” “For love of God seems dying.” “We turn back to our dying.
    • Shows us that death is happening, despite it superficially looking like nothing is happening. They are ignoring death.
